What is Resume Optimisation?

Resume optimisation is the deliberate process of improving a CV's content and format so it performs better in automated screening and human review.

Optimisation spans structure and substance: ATS-friendly layout, accurate parsing, keyword alignment with the job description, stronger action verbs, quantified outcomes, and removal of outdated or irrelevant roles. It is role-specific: one optimised CV is not optimal for every vacancy.

Ethical optimisation stays truthful. Reframing real achievements with better verbs and employer-aligned language is sound; inventing skills or titles is not. The aim is clarity and fit, not deception.

Iterate in cycles: tailor, analyse, edit, re-check. Small edits to summary and top bullets often move match scores more than rewriting older roles unrelated to the target job.

CValuate is built for this loop: run a CV Review to strengthen the document, then Job Match against each target role, apply edits, and re-run until you are confident submitting. Start from our guides if you are optimising from scratch.
